Ahh, yes

 The dreaded Partial water change

Water Change using Reef Crystals Water in the mixing / heating stage.. The mess of water changes in the bathtub

Well, Its that time of the month again... I mean a water change.  I change my water every 3 weeks to keep things happy.  I remove about 28 gallons of water, and  make a fresh salt water solution.  I make the solution  in a container that I picked up a t he local hardware store.  The container holds about 30 gallons full (and I mean FULL!).  Using RO water, and Reef Crystals, I create a mixture about 1.024-1.025 SG.  I use a Pondmaster 700 that  mixes the solution over night, and heats the water with a 250 watt heater to about 78 Degrees.  When the water change time comes (the next day), I vacuum the tank in the certain areas (trying to stay away from the live sand bed), and try to remove any excess algae.  I then hook the Pondmaster up to my tubing, and pump it into the tank from the bathroom (about 25 feet).  This keeps everything nice, and clean, without much disruption, if any to the tanks everyday living.
